What is Treasure Boxes?
Treasure Boxes is a South Australian not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting babies, children and families experiencing hardship or crisis by providing essential items such as clothing, toiletries, books, toys, nursery equipment, school supplies and household essentials.
Who does Treasure Boxes support?
We support children and families facing a range of challenges including homelessness, domestic and family violence, financial hardship, foster care placements, refugee settlement, and other circumstances that place children at risk of going without basic necessities.
Where does Treasure Boxes operate?
Treasure Boxes supports families across South Australia, including metropolitan, rural and remote communities. Our warehouse is located in Edwardstown, South Australia.

How can families access support?
Families with any type of concession card can access support through our Family Support Program or through referrals from support agencies and caseworkers, depending on the items required and their individual circumstances.
Do I need a referral?
Some items and services may require a referral from a support worker or agency. Families accessing the Family Support Program can request many essential items directly if they meet eligibility requirements.
What items can families receive?
Depending on availability and need, we may provide clothing, shoes, books, toys, nappies, toiletries, bedding, school supplies, prams, cots, car seats and other baby and children’s essentials.
Is the Family Support Program free?
The Family Support Program provides access to quality pre-loved essentials at significantly reduced prices to help families meet their children’s needs while reducing financial stress. A list of items and price list is available on our website.
Is my information confidential?
Yes. Information collected through Treasure Boxes programs is treated confidentially and is not shared externally without consent.
Why don’t you give items directly to every family that contacts you?
Treasure Boxes works closely with support agencies and caseworkers to ensure assistance reaches families most in need, is distributed fairly, and forms part of a broader support network. This approach helps us maximise our impact and ensure resources are directed where they are needed most.

What items can I donate?
We welcome new and high-quality pre-loved children’s clothing, books, toys, baby equipment, nursery items, nappies, bed and bath line, homeware and other essentials in excellent condition.
What items are most urgently needed?
Our needs vary throughout the year, but items frequently in high demand include nappies, toiletries, baby shampoo, baby wash, nappy cream, double prams, car restraints, safety gates and other essential children’s items. As our needs change based on the referrals we have and items on waitlist, please call or email us to get the latest update when you are planning a donation drive.
Can I donate used items?
Yes. High-quality pre-loved items form a significant part of our circular economy model. All donated items must be clean, safe and in excellent condition.
Are there items you cannot accept?
Yes. For safety and quality reasons there are some items we cannot rehome, including damaged goods, certain baby products, mattresses, electrical appliances, aerosols, baby cots, prams and car seats which do not comply with Australian Safety Standards and other restricted items. Please check our donation guidelines before donating.
Where can I drop off donations?
Donations can be delivered to our Edwardstown warehouse during opening hours. Smaller items can also be left at selected community donation bin locations throughout South Australia. Our website has a list of businesses where the bins are located.
Are financial donations tax deductible?
Yes. Treasure Boxes is a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) registered charity and donations over $2 are tax deductible in Australia.

How can I volunteer?
Individuals can register their interest through our volunteer program. Opportunities may include sorting donations, preparing orders, organising stock, assisting at events and supporting warehouse operations.
Do you offer corporate volunteering?
Yes. We welcome corporate teams to volunteer with us. Volunteering days can be tailored to suit groups and provide a meaningful, hands-on way to support children and families in crisis.
Can schools, clubs or community groups volunteer?
Absolutely. We regularly work with schools, sporting clubs, community organisations and workplace teams looking to make a positive impact. Our insurance covers anyone over the age of 15 to volunteer at our warehouse.

Yes. Donation drives are a fantastic way to support Treasure Boxes. We can provide guidance on the items most needed and help make your collection drive a success.

Can Treasure Boxes provide a speaker for our event?
Yes. Subject to availability, representatives from Treasure Boxes may be able to speak at community, corporate and fundraising events. A speaker fee applies which is an important fundraising resource for Treasure Boxes.

Baby Boutique
What is the Baby Boutique?
The Baby Boutique is Treasure Boxes’ pre-loved baby and children’s store located at Edwardstown and is run by our volunteers. It offers affordable clothing, toys, books and children’s items, with 100% of proceeds supporting Treasure Boxes programs.
Do I need to be referred to shop at the Baby Boutique?
No. The Baby Boutique is open to the general public and welcomes all shoppers.
