Items we can rehome
The safety and wellbeing of the babies and kids your donation helps is our top priority. For this reason, many items we rehome need to pass strict safety guidelines and checks. Please check each donation follows the guidelines below and make sure that all items have been recently cleaned and are in good, working condition.
We accept good quality and unstained Muslin wraps, spit cloths, flannels, bibs.
Please check for the following safety requirements: – Baby bouncer is less than 8 years old – It is in good condition with clean fabric and working buckles and straps – It has a 3 or 5 point harness
We rehome front carrying/soft structured buckle carriers.
We only rehome baby carriers that are less than 8 years old.
All working parts.
Sleeping bag is in good condition with working zips, no frays, rips, tears, or stains.
We do rehome baby bouncer/swings that are designed for use on the floor.
Please check for the following safety requirements: – Baby bouncer is less than 8 years old – It is in good, working condition with clean fabric and working buckles and straps – It has a 3 or 5 point harness
*We do not rehome baby swings that are powered by lithium batteries or wall plug. We do not rehome hanging swings/jumpers as they are considered unsafe by multiple Australian organisations such as Product Safety Australia.
We accept good quality and clean backpacks, school bags, nappy bags, library bags, toiletry bags, handbags.
We rehome modern bassinets with wide, stable bases. To make sure your bassinet follows Australian product safety standards, please check that:
- It is less than 8 years old
- Sides of the bassinet are at least 300mm higher than the mattress top
- Legs are secure (not folding). If it is on wheels, at least 2 of the 4 must be lockable
- Any decorative bows, strings, ribbons or other choking hazards have been removed
Due to safety we can only accept baths that are in great condition – There are no cracks, stains, or mould. The bath must have a plug hole and plug with it.
Bath seats are a safety risk and for this reason Treasure Boxes does not rehome these items.
Less than 8 years old – The bed rail is in good, clean condition – All parts are included (instructions are preferrable).
We rehome freshly laundered linen and new (or as-new) quilts and pillows.
We rehome all kids’ books. Reading is a valuable, life-long skill that we strongly encourage!
We rehome bottles and steriliser units, along with bottle accessories (such as bottle bags) as long as they are:
- In new or like-new condition
Please note that we cannot accept used bottle teats , dummies or teethers.
Nursing pillow, feeding pillow. Please ensure the breastfeeding pillow is in good, clean condition.
Electric Breast Pump: Great condition. All working parts.
We rehome car seats and capsules, adhering to strict guidelines and safety checks for the safety and wellbeing of our recipients.
All donated car restraints should adhere to mandatory Australian Safety Standards. Please check for the following:
- There is a manufacturers sticker stating that the restraint complies with mandatory standard AS/NZS 1754, along with the manufacturer and model clearly marked on a grey sticker. Click here for more info
- The restraint must be less than 8 years old from the date of manufacture and has never been involved in an accident
- There are no frayed or broken straps, buckles or structural damage and no remnants of food in the fabric
We do not rehome booster seats or any other form of car restraints.
We rehome modern change tables. Please use the following as a guide:
- It is less than 8 years old
- Edges and barriers are a minimum 100mm height from base
We rehome preloved babies and kids clothing, from size 00000 to (kids) 16, providing it is:
- In good condition
- Freshly laundered
- No tears, stains or fabric pilling
- Maternity bra, nursing bra.
- We can rehome bralettes in children/teen sizes.
- We can rehome clothing in adult sizes if it the cut and style is appropriate for teens (ie no workwear). We can rehome bathers and rashies in good, clean condition.
We rehome cots, adhering to the following guidelines and safety checks:
- It is less than 8 years old
- They comply with current Australian Safety Standard AS2172:2003
- The manufacturer or supplier and model name/number are clearly stamped on the base slat along with the date of manufacture
- Edges are smooth and rounded, with no splinters or damage to the side rails or base slats
- If the cot has castors, the brakes must be fully functioning
- If including the mattress, it must be stain-free and less than 10 years old. Mattresses must be firm and flat, the same size as the cot
- All nuts, bolts and rods are included
We rehome high chairs adhering to the following guidelines:
- The high chair is less than 8 years old with a strong frame and wide, stable base
- The manufacturer and model number are clearly marked
- The upholstery is clean and free of food remnants
- It has a 5-point safety harness
- Front and back castors must have fully-functioning brakes
We rehome small homewares (such as kitchen and dining essentials).
- Bowls – Cooking utensils (spatulas, tongs, serving spoons, etc)
- Cutlery
- Dinner plates
- Drinking glasses
- Frying pans
- Kettles
- Mugs
- Plastic storage containers
- Saucepans
- Tea towels
- New toasters & kettles.
Please clean and wash any homeware items before donating.
We provide childcare necessities to families, and unfortunately do not have the space to store decorative homewares, vintage homewares, or curtains.
We do not rehome larger electrical items including microwaves, electric fry pans, heaters, fans, etc.
We do not rehome sharp knives, wine, beer, or other alcoholic glassware.
We can rehome jewellery & accessories that are suitable for kids or teenagers.
We rehome all sizes of quilts, quilt covers, blankets, sheets, and mattress protectors in good, clean condition.
They don’t need to be complete sets – we can match them.
We do not rehome valences. We cannot rehome feather or down-filled quilts, blankets, or pillows as they are not machine washable.
We can rehome all sizes of maternity clothes in good, clean condition.
We rehome all donations of unused, clean, disposable nappies.
Please clearly mark the size on the packaging.
We can rehome pillows that are new, or in like-new condition. We rehome breastfeeding pillows and cushions.
We provide childcare necessities to families, and unfortunately do not have the space to store or rehome home cushions.
We rehome potties and toilet steps.
We can rehome simple plastic moulded potties, and toilet steps that are in good, clean condition. Please check that there is no mould.
We do not rehome potties with cushioned seats.
We rehome prams and strollers that adhere to Australian Safety Standard AS/NZS 2088:2000. Please check for the following.
- It is less than 8 years old
- All wheels, steering and brakes are fully-functioning
- There is a 5-point safety harness
- It has the brand/safety tag attached
- Clean prams and strollers with no mould.
- We can rehome pram accessories like kickboards, drink holders, rain covers and pram liners.
We rehome safety gates. Please remember to:
- Include all the adjuster screws and bolts
- Include suction cups for mounting on the wall
- Include instructions
We rehome drawer and cupboard locks, power point covers and corner protectors.
We rehome preloved kids’ shoes providing they are clean, in good condition and are paired.
Please check for holes, significant discolouration or scuff marks.
We can rehome socks for babies, kids and teens that are new or in like-new condition.
We can rehome electronic & microwaveable bottle sterilisers that are in good, clean condition.
We can rehome suitcases in all sizes for the family, as long as they are still in excellent/like-new condition.
We rehome donations of unused, packaged toiletries for babies, children and adults.
We can rehome unused, unopened and in-date toiletries for all ages including:
- Deodorant (roll-on)
- Hair brushes
- Moisturiser
- Sanitary items (pads, tampons, liners)
- Shampoo & conditioner
- Soap (liquid & bar)
- Tooth brushes – Toothpaste
We do not rehome: – razors, make-up or other cosmetics, aerosol products (deodorant, body spray, hair spray, etc)
We can rehome small to medium sized toys and activities for babies, children, and teenagers up to 17 years old.
We can rehome stationery/school items in good, like-new condition.
We distribute toy packages in standardised boxes, so unfortunately do not have the capacity to store or rehome large toys that are bigger than 30cm such as doll houses, large activity centres or oversized soft toys.
Please check that:
- All parts are included
- It is not battery operated (unless brand new in packaging)
- They are not filled with beans
- The item has been given a wipe down
We do not rehome: – Bath toys – Fishing rods – Toy guns / weapons
We can rehome children and teenage underwear that is new.

- Artwork, wall hangings & decorations
- Baby nests & sleep pods

Donations big or small can be delivered to our Treasure Boxes warehouse in Edwardstown. Please check our donation guidelines before dropping off your items.
Open: Mon – Fri, 10am – 2pm, and every first Saturday of the month, 9am-12pm.
We only accept the following items in our donation bin drop off points: Clothes, toys (less than 30cm in size), shoes, toiletries – NEW only, nappies – NEW only, all sizes, packets can be opened. Large donations must be delivered to the Treasure Boxes Edwardstown warehouse during opening times.
